- Hi
- If your going to use it for something like a BBS then
- there are a few things that may help. First use a line protector
- on the phone line. Use multiple protectors at two or more places
- along the phone line. Make sure they are connected to a real
- ground. If you don't know if you're three prong plug has
- a good ground connected, run a 12 guage or bigger copper
- wire to a good ground rod. The rod should be at lest 6 to 8
- feet and in damp ground. ( a drippy outside faucet is a good place. )
- Float the entire PC with an isolation transformer. Don't even
- connect the ground wire of the PC to any ground ( You might
- want to have a knife switch to connect it while you are typing
- on it. In which case protecting you're self is more important
- than saving the PC. ) Place the PC on a sheet of plexiglass
- and on a non-conductive table or bench.
- All of this will help a little for near misses but of course
- a close hit will take this all out.
